Summer School on European Union Law
Every year since 2017, ELMAA organises the Summer School on European Union in Corfu Island together with the Ionian University and the Corfu Bar Association.
Since 2017, the Summer School on European Union Law is yearly organised in the last week of July in Corfu Island by the ‘European Law Masters Alumni Association’ of the Law School of Athens (ELMAA) in collaboration with the Ionian University and the Corfu Bar Association.
The Opening Ceremony takes place in the Corfu Courthouse and the courses at the premises of the Ionian University.
The 15 professors of each Summer School are members of the Court of Justice of the European Union, civil servants in other EU institutions, professors at European universities and partners in international law firms.
The 50 students are coming from several European countries, most of them holding junior positions in EU or national public bodies and law firms in Brussels, Luxembourg and Greece or pursuing LLM or PhD studies.
Each Summer School has an umbrella subject-matter, which is elaborated through the specific topics selected for the individual courses. Those are delivered in the morning, while the afternoons and evenings are devoted to social activities around the island.
The Summer School’s sponsors are coming from both the private and public sector, and many from within the Corfu Island demonstrating the support of the local society.
Since May 2022, the Summer School is affiliated with the ‘Capri School of European Procedural Law’, which is held in May in Napoli and Capri.
